Carrying a child and giving birth to that child is something most women have a great desire, if not a need, for. Connecting young healthy donors with couples wanting to create their own families is not just a job form me; it brings great joy and fulfillment to my life as well.

I have found that just about everyone knows someone who has suffered through the ups and downs of infertility. It may be someone you work with, a close friend, a relative or even you. Two of my dearest friends have been on the fertility roller coaster and I have been privileged to take that ride with them. Primarily it was in the role of hand-holder and giving emotional support. Everyone needs the help and support of friends and loved ones throughout their lives, and it is never more needed than during times of stress, disappointment and even joy.

Having been intimately involved with my friends’ fertility struggles, I’ve been amazed by the advancements in assisted reproduction over the years. There are more and more options and solutions every year and success rates continue to climb. If you have been told you can’t have a child, it may be time to check again.

One of the solutions that has been very successful in recent years is ovum donation. Initially, relatives and friends were approached as prospective donors. Now, healthy young women are recruited and screened by egg donor agencies and are available through your fertility specialist’s office. Pacific Connection Fertility Services, located in Hawaii, has donors with diverse ethnic backgrounds. I personally interview each prospective donor and obtain a medical history for them and their immediate family. Each donor is screened by a licensed psychologist and the utmost care is taken to assure that the egg donor process, from selection of a donor to the joyous news of a successful pregnancy, goes as smoothly as possible. My promise to both donors and recipient couples is to always be there for them. I will provide supportive services throughout the entire process and I’m always available even if what you need is a shoulder to lean on.
